WSGL prepares and prosecutes patent applications in all major countries of the world through long established relationships with our counterparts in other countries. Worldwide patent activities are efficiently managed in a timely and efficient manner. We are especially active in the fields of electronics, computer hardware and software systems, mechanics, electro-optics, materials, chemistry and biotechnology. Our professional staff is composed of attorneys with particular skills in these and other technical areas, and includes many attorneys with advanced technical degrees including Ph.D. degrees, and many attorneys who have had active careers as engineers or technologists. WSGL employs a variety of resources to conduct prior art investigations of national and international scope for assessment of patentability, infringement and validity to whatever depth is required. We maintain in-house computer systems for access to relevant patent and other technical data bases, and we regularly perform searches and prior art investigations in the United States Patent and Trademark Office. We regularly conduct patent infringement and patent validity studies and provide opinions on issues of infringement and validity for patents in a wide variety of sophisticated technologies. An aspect of our patent practice is our experience in working with clients in establishing patent policies and procedures appropriate to the client's own interests and circumstances. These activities often include the establishment of a corporation patent committee or other mechanism for the evaluation of invention disclosures submitted by employees and consultants of the client companies. |
