Gordon R. Moriarty

Gordon Moriarty practices primarily in the fields of patent and trademark prosecution and licensing, specializing in the development and coordination of larger patent portfolios for major clients of the firm.

Mr. Moriarty has a background in radar, communications, and vision systems. He practiced for eight years as an electrical engineer for a large, international defense electronics company where he was involved in software development, digital system design, and radar system test. With the firm, he has extensive patent prosecution experience in the areas of computer networks, micro-mechanical devices, medical and laboratory analytical equipment, electro-optical measurement apparatus, and software for a broad range of technologies.

Having begun his career with the firm as a law clerk and technology specialist while attending law school, Mr. Moriarty is now a partner with the firm. A native of the Philadelphia area, Mr. Moriarty received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, specializing in communications theory and optics, from Northwestern University in 1982. While residing in Baltimore, he continued his engineering education at Loyola College. After receiving a Juris Doctor degree from the Northeastern University School of Law in 1993, Mr. Moriarty was admitted to bars of the following courts: Massachusetts (1993); U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (1994); U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit (1994); and U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts (1994). He is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Mr. Moriarty is a member of the American Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association, the Boston Patent Law Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
