Brendan J. KennedyBrendan Kennedy is actively involved in the prosecution of patents in the electrical, software and mechanical arts and has experience in the oversight of the prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications. He also has been called upon to perform freedom to operate studies and due diligence investigations pertaining to intellectual property. Additionally, he has provided assessments of infringement and the validity of patents and has provided patentability opinions to companies and individuals seeking to obtain patent protection. He also maintains an active trademark practice and has advised clients in matters pertaining to e-commerce and domain name registrations. Mr. Kennedy also has experience in licensing and other technology based agreements. Before joining the firm, Mr. Kennedy worked for intellectual property law firms in New York City where he was primarily involved in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications for clients that varied in size from start-ups to multi-national conglomerates. Mr. Kennedy worked as an electrical engineer and a software programmer for several technology-based companies before entering the legal profession. His technical experience included work in robotic controls, vision inspection, and network and router implementations. He also worked as an application and system programmer, performed real-time multi-tasking programming and network management. Mr. Kennedy received both his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, and Juris Doctor degree from The University of Connecticut. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society and served as an intern with the Honorable Alfred V. Covello at the Federal District Court for Connecticut. Mr. Kennedy is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and Connecticut. He is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
