Beverly E. HjorthBeverly Hjorth has an active practice in the prosecution of applications for U.S. and foreign patents, particularly in the mechanical, civil, and environmental fields. She also maintains a wide ranging trademark practice relating to both U.S. and foreign trademarks and handles many copyright and licensing and other agreement matters. Ms. Hjorth gained valuable experience as a Patent Examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office examining applications in a mechanical group. While at the firm, she has developed particular expertise in trademark matters. She has spoken to a number of groups on various intellectual property topics. Born in Summit, New Jersey, Ms. Hjorth was admitted to practice before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court in 1988. She received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University in 1979 and an M.S.E. in Civil Engineering from Princeton University in 1982. In 1988, she graduated magna cum laude from Boston University School of Law, where she was also a member of the Law Review. She is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. She joined the firm in 1987 while still in law school and became a partner in 1995. Ms. Hjorth is a member of the Massachusetts and Boston Bar Associations, the American Bar Association, and the Boston Patent Law Association. She served as President of the Women's Initiative for Technology Leadership, an organization dedicated to advancing the position of women in technology.
