Holliday C. Heine

Holly Heine is a partner with the firm. She has extensive experience prosecuting patent applications and advising clients, with particular emphasis in the areas of biotechnology and the biological and chemical arts, including development of strategies for broad protection and licensing of inventions involving genomics, proteomics, intermediary metabolism and physiology. Her technical expertise also extends to areas of mechanical engineering and materials science.

Dr. Heine began her professional career as a research biochemist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Massachusetts General Hospital. Subsequently, she developed administrative experience at MIT, running the Freshman Advisory Program. While attending law school, Dr. Heine practiced as a biotechnology specialist at another prominent intellectual property law firm, prior to joining the firm in 1991.

Dr. Heine holds the Bachelor of Science and Ph.D. degrees, in biology and biochemistry respectively, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Juris Doctorate degree from Suffolk University Law School. She is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the Massachusetts Bar, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the First and Federal Circuits. She is also a member of the American, Massachusetts and Boston Bar Associations, the Boston Patent Law Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Association for Women in Science.
